REMEMBERING THOSE WHO SERVED
As Elks, we hold the veterans of our nation in a special place in our hearts.
However, the month of November is our opportunity to take time to show the
world that we recognize and appreciate the sacrifices our veterans made so
that we can live our lives in freedom. Some veterans gave the ultimate
sacrifice, their lives. Others, may not have been physically injured, but may
have suffered mental injury. All of these men and women deserve our thanks and
our gratitude.
“Freedom Isn’t Free”
The Elks provide several programs to show support of our veterans. Recognition
programs or dinners at your Lodge are very personal ways to show appreciation.
Other programs are Adopt-A-Vet, Student/Veteran Volunteer Program, Army
of Hope, and the distribution of the Comfort Care Kits. For details about
these programs, see the Elks monthly magazine, visit the national Grand Lodge
web site on-line at www.elks.org, or talk to one of the members of the Nashua
lodge National Service committee. They gave so much to us, so this is a great
time to PROVE that Elks care!
Remember Brother Elks, November is Veterans Remembrance Month.
